Who Is Danessa Myricks?
Danessa Myricks is a visionary, renowned MUA, photographer, self-made entrepreneur, and household name in the beauty industry.
Raised in Queens, New York, Danessa Myricks always wanted to make her parents proud and do something extraordinary. From an early age, she decided to exhibit her artistic vision through the power of makeup. With limited resources, she was determined to achieve her dreams and support her family. Across the globe, Danessa has been teaching her makeup expertise at numerous tradeshows (such as IMATS, The Makeup Show, America's Beauty Show, Atlanta Black Beauty Expo, Cosmoprof North America, Bronner Bros International Beauty Show, etc.) for more than 20 years.
Danessa's influence transcends even far beyond products — she collaborates with acclaimed artists and celebrities (such as Sir John, Roshar, Jackie Aina, Nyma Tang, Shalom Blac, Isabelle DeVries, Merell Hollis, Nick Posley, Marika D'Auteuil, and many more), sharing her love, dedication, aspiration, and beauty education with makeup enthusiasts worldwide.
How It Started
After feeling unfulfilled in a corporate position, Danessa took a chance and pursued her true passions: beauty and makeup artistry.
Danessa's story was by no means an overnight success. For decades, she poured her heart and soul into learning and mastering makeup techniques as a freelancer, which eventually led to her journey of becoming a beauty educator and product consultant for different companies. Although she encountered difficult challenges along this path, Danessa never gave up following her dreams. With a trailblazing spirit, she transitioned from working with prestigious brands (such as KISS, KVD, Benefit Cosmetics, LVMH, and countless others) to founding her own: Danessa Myricks Beauty.
Therefore, our company's ethos and grassroots started with Danessa Myricks and came from humble beginnings. Against all odds, Danessa invented and reimagined different ways to use makeup and start her own business, imparting her voice, wisdom, and knowledge to empower fellow artists as a black woman and single mom.
Our Brand Mission
Growing up, Danessa noticed a lack of representation in mainstream brands and the beauty conversation itself, so she envisioned starting a brand that made everyone feel seen and heard, while also creating cosmetics intended for all to use. Thus, the very fabric of Danessa Myricks Beauty originated from a place of artistry and inclusivity: our ideology lives and breathes creativity, diversity, and individuality.
Combining her talents with innovation, Danessa pioneers high-performance products to fill the gaps in the makeup scene. Each creation from Danessa and her team defies limits, ultimately designed to be multi-functional for all looks and occasions — anywhere from full glam to subtle makeup.
